grants for the french speaking world
They are intended to encourage exchanges
with young foreign, non-European ophthalmologists by allowing
them to come and present a paper concerning an original work
at the SFO Conference. Two grants are generally awarded each
year. The amount of the grant is set at 5 000 euros to cover
travelling costs, the stay in Paris and the cost of registration
for the Conference.
CONDITION FOR CANDIDACY :
- Being a young ophthalmologist or an ophthalmologist under
training, under 35 years of age and not living in Europe,
- Send a brief summary before 1st December to the SFO or to
the OPC (organisation pour la Prévention de la Cécité
- Organisation for the Prevention of Blindness), together
with a Curriculum Vitae and a letter from a member of the
teaching staff.
- The summary is presented in the usual form for applications
for papers. It is written in French and consists of 20 to
25 lines of text, on paper and on computer disk Word 2 to
97/98 or by E-mail sfo@sfo.asso.fr
in such a manner that it can be published in the Conference
programme.
JURY AND CONDITIONS OF AWARDS :
The jury is made up of members of the Governing
Board of the SFO. They designate the candidates after examination
of the dossiers, deliberation and a majority vote. The winners
agree to present their work as a private paper during a session
of the Conference. The presence of the winners is obligatory
for the presentation of the cheque on the Tuesday morning
after the meeting of the General Assembly. |
